Hanging Out On Grub Street

This Quiet de Luxe is near perfect!

I wish I had a truckload of these beauties.
This Speed King sold to a teen writer
Every year when the daffodils bloom, I have to post it.

This 1954 Lettera 22 I'm keeping all to myself.

Well that's it for this week. Thanks for checking it out. Everyone have a wonderful week.

  1. It's wonderful that you are so busy! Are you going to hang up a "Help Wanted" sign or is Jack all the help you need? If I was still living in the city, I would be dropping off my resume tomorrow. I've done cigar shops, bookstores, and picture-framers. Jumping into another thriving "obsolete" business would be right up my alley!

    1. That's funny Winston. I'm taking baby steps. I've been working alone for twenty-two years. Jack is it for now, then we'll see.

  2. I think it is super that you are busy. I also remember the red Royal QDL. I was watching it, and I did not bid since I had a different machine in my sights, a Smith-Corona Skyriter which I now have in my collection.

Your typewriters are always so very nice looking.

Those daffodils bring back fond memories of my home town and childhood. If I still lived there I'd be within a days ride of your shop. How things change as we get older. I'm a good 3 days away now.

I hope Jack stays with your shop and you can teach him the trade.

  3. Great to hear business is still booming. I'm a modest backer of Maya's venture - bikes and typewriters, what a combination!

  4. Always happy to hear your good news.
So it's like a box of chocolates with your typewriters, you'll never know what you're gonna get.

    Stunning Remington 5.

  5. Bill M.- Thanks for not bidding on the red QDL. Just kidding. Jack's having a blast here so we'll see if he sticks around.

Rob- I'm a modest backer too. If my knee was better I might ride a day with her. Thanks!

I dream lo-tech- Exactly! Most every day is a blast because I never know what's going to come through the door. Thanks.

  6. That red QDL is amazing! I wonder if I'll have the chance to get one of those.
It's good to hear that your going to teach someone the trade. The "art" will survive :)

  8. Richard- Glad you enjoy it. I'm a huge fan of all that you do (blog, web site, publication).

Fernando- there are red machines out there. If you keep looking you will find a affordable one. It's a shame they go for so much online. Thanks for commenting.
