This blog is about the daily activities in a busy typewriter shop. I want to share with you the many interesting people who come in here, the beautiful machines I get and most of all the great typewriter stories that people share with me!

Shop News Tidbits
This 1937 Remington portable is a typical depression era machine.
No right margin or bell, backspace or tab on this typewriter.
This Royal Futura 800 just screams 1960's.
This machine is a teen favorite but baby boomers like it too.
Very nice machines. I first saw a Futura 800 like that one last year and added the model to my wishlist. However, it keeps going lower on the list when I see neat older machines I think I'd rather have.
It seems that you'd be able to sell the Corona 3 folding with no problem. They are cool machines!
One of them rekindled my interest in typewriters about 10 years ago. It's probably not in as good condition as the one you just acquired, but I type on it occasionally. Great design.
Ken- Thanks for your comment. I'm really hoping I can fix that KMM. It's going to be a difficult repair. I'll mention it soon.
Richard- We have some pretty amazing coincidences that happen here. Like someone will call looking for a Hermes 2000 which I don't have and the next day someone else comes in and sells me or donates a nice Hermes 2000. This scenario happens so often that you can't call it a coincidence anymore.
Bill- I know what you mean about those wish lists. After I read Robert Messenger's "The Magnificent Five" my wish list quadrupled.
Cameron- Thanks for your nice comments. Folding Coronas are amazing machines yet tempermental and awkward.
Man, I would love to see that Yiddish KMM in action! I have heard of them, but have never had the chance to see a carriage move left to right.
ReplyDeleteThe typeface on the Futura is quite nice, and the Remington looks amazing. Fantastic!
That Futura certainly types nicely.
ReplyDeleteFunny coincidence with the two customers choosing the Corona nearly simultaneously!

ReplyDeleteThe typeface on the Futura is indeed excellent!

ReplyDeleteThat's one nice Futura! Greet job! Have you ever worked on a Mercedes Superba? I recently bought one.
