Fair Trade?

My 1909 Fox 24 came with it's original cover

The Fox is in wonderful condition with great decals.

I also got this Royal "P" Model in the trade.

The Royal P cleaned up real nice and looks great.

Here's what I had to give up.

This Molle No.3 is in fabulous condition.

And it comes with a cool story. It was hard to give up.

The Arabic keyboard on this machine was beautiful.

The Underwood Ace Comes with a cool case.

This 1954 Underwood Ace in near mint condition.

This Lettera 32 was made in Spain but assembled in South Africa.

This 1937 Monarch Pioneer is another great example of a depression era machine.

A handful of tools that I use the most for repairs.

  1. That is a nice Fox 24. Favorite is the 54 Underwood though, that's pretty slick! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Great post! I'm curious...what's the t-handled tool in the photo?

  3. Some mouth-watering machines here! Both the Fox and the Molle are very pretty, and that's a great story about the Molle. Apparently they are most common in Wisconsin; they didn't get very wide distribution.

Do you recall if the Arabic typewriter had proportional spacing? My Arabic Olympia and Erika do.

  5. That's a toughie, the Molle is so cool, but I'd take the Fox and woodgrain Royal! Very nice!

  6. I think it's a fair trade. Both look stunning, with the Molle having a slight edge for uniqueness. But I bet the Fox wins for "usability."Am I right to think that the Molle is more of a collector's item than a machine you'd actually want to use?

  8. Just going by looks I much prefer the Fox, so I think you made an excellent trade.

  9. Vikram- Thanks for your comments. I was surprised at how much I liked typing on the Underwood Ace.

Bryan- The T-bender is my main tool for bending and forming parts. I use it on most repairs of older machines.

Richard- I hadn't noticed before but you are right. It is proportional spacing. Thanks for mentioning it. It makes the Imperial even more special.

writelephant.com- thanks for your comments. I happy with it.

Mark- Thanks! All the machines are very cool.

Ton- You got that exactly right. The Fox is awesome to type on. It's very well made and has some fun features on it. Very "useable." The Molle is unique and gorgeous but not as much fun to type on for me.

Spiderwebz- Thanks! There are always cool and interesting machines coming through the shop.

Janet- Next time I know you're coming in, I'll bring in the Fox.

  10. Ahh, thanks Tom. That's good to know. I don't have that tool in my toolkit just yet.

  11. Hi Tom,
The Arabic typewriter was manufactured in 1936. Just like Hebrew you type/ read from left to right.
Thanks so much for the fix!
