1903 Addix Calculator... and More!

This is a very simple but really cool machine.

The decal is great on this stripped down version of a Standard.

1930 Remington No.3 in great condition and reporting for duty.

1938 Corona Sterling in mint condition.

I love the mirror like shine in the finish. It sparkles.

I like the gothic style type and color on this Studio 45.

I've never seen this key on a machine before.

  1. Tom, apart from the unfortunate strain on your back, I think you have one of the best jobs in the world. Thanks for another great roundup and have a good week ahead.

    1. Thanks Rob. Anyone who gets to work at something they're passionate about has the best job in the world. I'm certainly having a blast here. Thanks again.

  2. What a awesome little adding machine- and what a case to match! Hey, speaking of gorgeous 1930's Remington Portables, would you happen to have or know of any spare carriage return levers that would fit a 1935 Remington Portable 5?

  3. Thanks for the update! This was another rich and fascinating entry.

I'm happy to report that the Navajo language isn't dead; it has over 100,000 speakers.

    1. I had several students last year that spoke Diné (Navajo) natively. I would love to see a typewriter keyed to the Navajo language.

  5. That Comet DeLuxe has really gotten around, by the way. It was bought (secondhand) in California, and from there it went to New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida, and now it lives in Maine.

  6. Steve- Thanks for your comments. Remington Five carriage return levers are as hard to get as Hermes platen knobs. I have a bunch of Rem 5's waiting for a new lever and it will be a long wait. Keep looking around.

Richard & Ryan- Good to know that Navajo is still spoken. Thanks!

Ted- It's always exciting when I see a new machine I haven't seen before. Even more exciting when a customer brings in a machine that looks trashed and I can clean and repair it and the customer is thrilled to be able to use it again.

Janet- WOW! Some typewriters really get around. It was a pleasure to meet you and work on such a cool machine. By the way, I'm working on putting up a video of the typing contest. Chris took a great video on his smart phone and it is funny and loud. Hope to have it up soon.

  7. That adding machine is magnificent. But... The Gender symbols on a typer! That's really something. I love it.

  8. Very cool list of machines. Always a thrill to see the years washed away when you're done with your magic. Glad to see a new post, and I am very sorry to hear about back trouble- it's something I can relate to. Wishing you a speedy recovery and may you find yourself a comfy couch and a big bottle of ibuprofen after hours.
